The Alhambra reopens to visitors after the Granada earthquakes, but the Alcazaba remains closed

The monument complex returns to its usual opening hours on 19 August after the precautionary closure caused by the earthquakes, although special routes have been introduced in the Nasrid Palaces and the Generalife and some areas remain closed while inspections continue.

The Alhambra temporarily evacuated after a magnitude 4.8 earthquake in Granada

The Nasrid Palaces (Palacios Nazaríes), the Alcazaba and later the Generalife have been evacuated as a precautionary measure following the strong earthquakes recorded this Tuesday, 18 August. Staff from the Council of the Alhambra and Generalife (Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife) are inspecting the monumental complex with the support of experts from the University of Granada (Universidad de Granada).
